This original poster from our collection will be mounted, designed and cut into a one-of-a-kind PAR for you. Printed by Mourlot, Paris in 1961 - Edition of 2000. Artist Marc Chagall (1887-1985) was a Russian-French artist. An early modernist, he was associated with several artistic styles and created works in a wide range of artistic formats, including painting, drawings, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics, tapestries and fine art prints.
Chagall was born in 1887 into a Jewish family in what is Belarus today. Before World War I, he travelled between St Petersburg, Paris and Berlin. During this period he created his own mixture and style of modern art based on his idea of Eastern Europe and Jewish folk culture. He spent the wartime years in Belarus, becoming a member of the modernist avant-garde, founding the Vitebsk Arts College. During WWII, he escaped occupied France to the United States, where he lived for 7 years in NYC before returning to France in 1948.
Size: 31.4” x 21.2” - Approx 750-850pcs - This work has been beautifully sun-struck and has more subdued hues than the saturated yellow on others without such exposure. We will use the surrounding black sections outside Chagall’s windows to our advantage with a unique one-of-a-kind design.
